Visiting Northern Wisconsin

Northern Wisconsin from the Lake Superior Lowlands south to Eau Claire and Green Bay offers amazing outdoor experiences. The Apostle Islands National Lakeshore, off the southern shores of Lake Superior, consists of 21 scenic islands. Visitors can explore sea caves, pristine beaches and historic lighthouses. Wisconsin's Northlands include; the Saint Croix National Scenic River, along the state's northwestern border; the Ice Age National Scenic Trail and the Chequamegon National Forest with attractions like Copper Falls and the Brule River. The Whisker Lake Federal Wilderness Area offers 33,000 acres of undeveloped rivers, lakes and forest to explore. The Popple and Pine Rivers are designated wild rivers, leaving them undisturbed by modern development.

Green Bay is arguably most famous for its favored sons – the NFL's Green Bay Packers. One of the oldest franchises in the NFL, the Packers have won more championships than any other team. Lambeau Field near downtown Green Bay is home field for the team and is the longest continuously occupied NFL stadium. The Green Bay Packers bring a long and proud history to Wisconsin and it is time to enjoy a game. Join the enthusiastic Wisconsinite cheeseheads for a Packers home game experience that will not soon be forgotten.

The Best Western Green Bay Inn is conveniently located one block from Lambeau Field and across the street from the new Packer's training facility. Check in the Best Western Green Bay Inn on game day, visit the Packer Hall of Fame, cheer the Packer's on to a win and walk to your room after the game for a comfortable nights rest. A day doesn't get any better than that.

De Pere, just outside Green Bay hosts a late season run and walk for athletes. The 2010 Noodleini Run/Walk is held Sunday after Thanksgiving. Featuring a 5K and 15K run or walk, this is a great event for everyone to extend an active summer regime. The start and finish is at West De Pere High School for both events. Enjoy this Winter Runnerland event which ends with a bowl of noodles for participants.

Travelers through Northern Wisconsin find fun events and activity all year long. The StageNorth Theater in Washburn, on Lake Superior's Chequamegon Bay, hosts the Big Water Film Fest. The 2010 festival is November 5th through the 7th – three days of excellent films and special events. The 2010 schedule will showcase filmmaker Melody Gilbert and special guest Jim Abrahams. Film buffs will love the current, cutting edge films on the screening schedule.

Superior, west of Washburn, is home to the University of Wisconsin Superior. UWS sponsors fourteen men's and women's athletic teams, offering residents and visitors a variety of sporting events year round. The Yellowjacket's fall schedule includes men's and women's basketball, women's hockey and men's and women's soccer. Support your favorite Yellowjacket team when you are in the Superior area.

The Best Western Bay Walk Inn and the Best Western Bridgeview Motor Inn are located in Superior convenient to area events and attractions. With clean, comfortable accommodations and reasonable rates, choose Best Western Hotels while traveling in Northern Wisconsin.
