Visiting Northern Wisconsin

The Pine Line Marathon challenges runners with a spring run on the rail-trail through Wisconsin’s Taylor and Price Counties. In addition to the marathon, Pine Line events feature ¾ and ½ marathon distances, 5K and Children’s Dash. Join the challenge at Medford City Park. Medford is located between Eau Claire and Wausau. North in Wisconsin’s Northwoods, the cry of snowmobiles has given way to the sounds of Eagle River’s fairs, festivals, and events. From the 17th Annual Journeys Marathon, and the Great Northern Beer Festival, to the 28th Annual National Championship Musky Open, the Wisconsin Northwoods have a full calendar of summer fun.

Bay Beach Amusement Park in Green Bay launches the 2013 season May 4th. A must-visit destination for families traveling through the Green Bay area, Bay Beach features classic rides including the Ferris Wheel, bumper cars and giant slide. Make the Bay Beach experience complete with a taste of cotton candy or a snow cone. Bay Beach is a Green Bay summer tradition.

Just a half hour north of Wausau, or south from Tomahawk, the community of Merrill hosts the 2013 Wisconsin River Pro Rodeo. Held June 7th through 9th, take in the excitement of bronc and bull riding, steer wrestling and Barrel racing at the Wisconsin River Rodeo. Events end on Sunday with the Run with the Bulls at the Lincoln County Fairgrounds.

Paddlers looking for a unique challenge join the Callie Rohr Memorial Canoe and Kayak Race on the headwaters of the Wisconsin River. The 2013 Callie is June 8th and 9th featuring a two day 26-mile canoe marathon, a half-marathon canoe course or a Paddle for a Cure race. Races begin near Conover and finish in Eagle River.

August is fair season in Superior. Twin Ports Lakefest brings live music, food and fun to Barkers Island east of downtown Superior. The 2013 Twin Ports Lakefest is August 3rd – an ideal fun family friendly event in Superior.

The 2013 Head of the Lakes Fair fills Superior’s Tristate Fair Grounds, August 13th through 18th. With all the traditions of a great summer fair, visit the Head of the Lakes Fair for midway games and rides, livestock and agricultural exhibits, and live entertainment.
