Visiting Milwaukee & Madison
Things are heating up in Milwaukee and Madison – and not just the temperature. Excitement levels are high throughout the Badger State’s urban center as area communities from Germantown to Kenosha gear up for all sorts of special events, festivals and family-friendly activities.
Music is in the air over Milwaukee this summer. Even after Summerfest 2016 brings an 11-day party and around 900,000 music fans to Henry W. Maier Festival Park, June 29th through July 3rd and July 5th through 10th, the 2016 Jazz in the Park series continues to keep things cool.
Music lovers are invited to enjoy free concerts at Cathedral Square Park every Thursday night, as a part of Jazz in the Park. The concerts are frequently accompanied by food and wine vendors for enhanced experience. It all kicks off at 5 p.m. each night.
To sports fans, summer means baseball, and the Milwaukee Brewers’ 2016 season is in full swing. Baseball fans can watch the Brew Crew defend home field at Miller Park through the first week of October. Check the schedule during your visit to see who’s coming up to the plate.
Long, sunny days mean this is the season for a stroll down Historic Brady Street in Milwaukee. Spanning nine blocks between the Milwaukee River and Lake Michigan, the strip boasts countless boutiques and dining options, as well as iconic focal points like Regano's Roman Coin, one of the original Pabst Blue Ribbon taverns.
Thirsty? The 2016 Milwaukee Brewfest is July 30th. It’s a celebration of brewers big and small with samples of suds from the likes of Milwaukee’s own Miller Brewery, as well as numerous microbrewers and craft beer purveyors. Get your passes now and join in the fun at McKinley Park.
Families can get close-up looks at the creatures of the Milwaukee County Zoo while many of the zoo’s 2,275-plus animals are out for their summer stretches. And if it gets too warm in the sun, head indoors for the virtually endless educational fun at the Discovery World Science & Technology Center.
