Visiting Milwaukee & Madison
Whether it’s Madison or Milwaukee, and everything in between, the spring and summer seasons open up tremendous vacation opportunities in the Wisconsin. Madison, the capital, is a fun and vibrant college town, with it’s own rich history and allure. Milwaukee is a baseball crazy city, with a love of finely crafted brews and ales, but with plenty of desirable hospitality, to boot – especially in the spring and early summer. Check out Kenosha, home to the Dinosaur Discovery Museum, and Petrifying Springs Park. Pewaukee, north of Kenosha, is home to Western Lakes Golf Club – enjoy the spring air while playing 18 holes.
Milwaukee is the largest city in Wisconsin, and with that classification, comes an array of interesting and unique attractions and sights. Check out the Discovery World Museum, or spend the afternoon at Pelican Cove Family Water Park, when it heats up enough. For a uniquely Milwaukee experience head to Hart Park on June 2, for the Milwaukee Highland Games.
Sports fans traveling through the Milwaukee area have options this spring. The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Panthers baseball season is underway so catch a game before they conclude. Head over to Henry Aaron Field on April 20, for the first of a three-game series against Youngstown State – you’ll love the excitement of college baseball. Continue the baseball experience with a visit to Miller Park, home of the Milwaukee Brewers. May 11 the Brewers take on the Chicago Cubs in the first of a three-game series.
West of Milwaukee is Madison – the state capital. A diverse city, Madison is flanked by bodies of water on it’s west and east sides. To the west is Lake Mendota, and to the east is Lake Monona and Lake Waubesa. As the home of the University of Wisconsin, Madison features an eclectic mix of locals and students from abroad. Spend the afternoon at the Madison Children’s Museum, then head to the Allen Centennial Gardens and bask in the fine spring blooms.
April 27, music lovers exploring Madison won’t want to miss the Capital City Jazz Festival – a three-day event organized by the Madison Jazz Society, and held at McKee Farms Park, only minutes from downtown Madison.
Soccer fans looking for a bit of the Beautiful Game can check out the University of Wisconsin Badgers take on DePaul University on May 4 at the McClimon Complex.
Make the most of the advantageous weather conditions this spring with a trip to Pewaukee Lake, set alongside the city of Pewaukee. Tee off and play 18 holes at the Western Lakes Golf Club, or the Willow Run Golf Club.
