The majority of buildings along Brady Street were built from 1860 to 1930. Early inhabitants along the street were Polish, German and Irish immigrants. Brady Street hosts a wonderful variety of festivals, parades and events throughout the year.

Brady Street, also known as "Milwaukee's Little Italy", is still home to one of the original Pabst Beer taverns, Regano's Roman Coin, built in 1890. This historical "tied house" tavern was designed by the same architect that designed the Pabst Theater. Historic Pabst Brewery

It was 1844 when the Historic Pabst Brewery was established by Jacob Best Sr., Phillip Best, and Captain Frederick Pabst. More than a century later and the Pabst Brewery was one of the largest American producers of beer through the first half of the 1900s. Set just west of downtown Milwaukee, the Historic Pabst Brewery is now a museum, pub, and iconic landmark in the Milwaukee area.

Travel in from nearby West Milwaukee or Brookfield and enjoy a tour of the grounds, take your picture with the King Gambrinus statue, or quench your thirst with a sample of the classic ale, Pabst Blue Ribbon.

Historic Third Ward

Downtown Milwaukee is full of history. Irish immigrants were the first inhabitants of the Historic Third Ward district, along the Milwaukee River. Some of these settlers were among the 400 passengers that died on the Lady Elgin steamship in 1860, when it sank in Lake Michigan. After a massive fire destroyed 440 buildings in 1892, architects began rebuilding the commercial buildings and Italian immigrants moved in. In 1984, the Third Ward district was placed on the National Register of Historic Places, with its seventy buildings spanning nearly ten blocks.

Today's visitors to this historic area of Milwaukee enjoy shopping in the Milwaukee Public Market. The market offers a wonderful selection of specialty and gourmet foods. The historic Broadway Theatre Center, built in 1907, is also located in Third Ward district. Over 450 businesses including art galleries, shops and restaurants are thriving in this wonderful area of Milwaukee. Stay close to the city's many attractions in a comfortable Best Western guest room and enjoy a peaceful night's rest.

Lakefront Brewery, Inc.

Brothers Jim and Russ Klisch may have started brewing beer through a friendly sibling rivalry, but by 1987 the duo had taken such a liking to brewing ales that they opened up the Lakefront Brewing. Set just north of downtown Milwaukee, Lakefront Brewing has the Milwaukee River rushing by in it's back yard – hence the name. Travel in from nearby West Milwaukee, or Pewaukee and experience one of the daily tours offered at Lakefront Brewing.

Make the trip in from one of Milwaukee's charming suburbs like Mequon, or Kenosha and try one (or more) of the finely crafted brews like Fixed Gear American Red Ale, or Cream City Pale Ale.

Students in the Milwaukee area have a wonderful selection of higher education institutions to choose from. Marquette University, located west of Milwaukee, was founded in 1881 by the Society of Jesus as a private Jesuit, Roman Catholic university. It began from the vision of the Most Rev. Martin J. Henni, Milwaukee's first Catholic bishop and named after Father Jacques Marquette, a 17th Century explorer and missionary. This 93-acre university remains one of the largest Jesuit universities in the country with more than 11,000 students.

The university offers undergraduate and postgraduate degrees and includes a Law School and School of Dentistry. Enjoy time on campus during one of the Golden Eagle sporting events. The university is a member of the Big East Conference and competes in basketball, soccer, track & field, cross-country, men's golf, tennis and women's volleyball games. Stay close to the university in a comfortable Best Western guest room and make the most of your time in Milwaukee.

Miller Park

Get ready for fun in Brew Town. Residents and visitors of Milwaukee know how to have a great time - they head to Miller Park for exciting baseball action. What better way to spend an afternoon, than at the ballpark. Miller Park was built in 2001, replacing Milwaukee County Stadium, as the home park for Major League Baseball's Milwaukee Brewers. This beautiful stadium features the only fan-shaped convertible roof in North America, capable of opening and closing in just ten minutes.

Cheer on the Brewers during a game and be sure to stay in your seat during the middle of the 6th inning for the Klement's Sausage Race. Watch the excitement as the bratwurst, the Polish, the Italian, the chorizo and the hot dog run the bases. Singing "Roll Out the Barrel" during the seventh inning stretch, is another fun tradition during the games. Additional events held in the stadium have included concerts and even a United States Bowling Congress Masters finals. Miller Park Tours are also available, if you don't have tickets to a game. Enjoy your time in Milwaukee and rest comfortably with Best Western hotels.

History is brewing in Milwaukee. The Flemish Renaissance Revival style Pabst Mansion was built in 1892 for Captain Frederick Pabst and his family. Once the mansion was sold by the Pabst descendants in 1908, the mansion was purchased by the Archdiocese of Milwaukee. It remained the residence for five Archbishops, priests and sisters until 1975. It was saved from demolition when Wisconsin Heritages, Inc. bought it for preservation. This incredible theater was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1991.

This opulent theater features incredible acoustics, two balconies, a proscenium stage, 1,345 seats and a hydraulic orchestra pit. It's been renovated throughout the years to keep its original style and modernized. In 1989, it was connected to the Milwaukee Center with a colonnade and a Irish Pub was added in the lobby. While in town, check out the current productions and enjoy a night out on the town. Stay close to the theater in one of the local Best Western hotels and enjoy a wonderful night's rest.
