Best Things To Do in Green Bay
Affectionately dubbed "Packerland," the northern Wisconsin city of Green Bay is so much more than football. Well, the football is pretty great, but there's plenty of other stuff, too. Here are the best things to do in Green Bay:
A quintessential stop for all Green Bay travelers, historic Lambeau Field, home of the Green Bay Packers, is known far and wide as one the NFL’s most beloved stadiums and best home field advantages.
Find out what makes this building so special during a Lambeau Field Stadium Tour, or better yet, attend a game this fall and help the Green and Gold take home another NFC North Championship.
Take a Thrill Ride.
Opened in 1892, Bay Beach Amusement Park is local favorite for thrill rides and games in Green Bay, and has been for a very, very long time. But age is just a number – check out the newly added Zippin Pippin roller coaster or classics like the Yo-Yo swing and Sea Dragon during your visit.
Go Back to School.
No, not really. But you should absolutely visit University of Wisconsin-Green Bay and check out of some of the sights found on campus, including the Weidner Center for the Performing Arts, Shorewood Golf Course, and the Lawton Gallery.
Downtown Green Bay
And hey, if the Packers aren’t playing during your visit, why not check out the UW-Green Bay Phoenix and see what the kids have to offer? The Phoenix field 16 varsity teams, and many play home games at the Kress Events Center.
Pick Some Petals.
The UWGB campus is certainly a sight to see, but it doesn’t hold a candle to the Green Bay Botanical Garden in terms of color and scenery.
The 47-acre garden houses over 10 gardens, ranging in style and fauna. If you’re visiting during the winter, luck you – be sure to check out the WPS Garden of Lights holiday lights display, available on weekends. It features over 200,000 lights sparking in the evenings.
Learn Something New.
If you’re traveling to a new place, a visit to the local museum is a must. How else can you familiarize yourself with the local history and culture? Well, the Neville Public Museum lets you do just that with a one million-item collection of historic exhibits, fine art, and intriguing displays.
See the Local Wildlife.
Looking for a little more hands-on adventure and fun? Be sure and check New Zoo and Adventure Park. Set just about 10 miles outside of Green Bay, the park features everything from zip lines and rock climbing, to tons of zoo creatures and attractions – all in one place.
Plan your visit accordingly; events like Brew at the Zoo and Party for the Planet are must-sees, and zoo hours vary by season. Adventure Park is closed from November through March.
Badger Brewing Company
Get Your Game On.
Try your luck at the Oneida Casino – Green Bay’s premiere gaming and entertainment venue. Oneida is home to over 2,000 slots, nine types of table games, off-track horse racing, bingo, and a private poker room.
And if that’s not your thing, then check out what’s happening at the Casino Lounge, home to a variety of live entertainment throughout the year. Several nights a week, the lounge hosts everything from classic rock to trivia night.
Have a Brew.
Wisconsin is the land of beer, so you’d be remiss to not have a cold one during your visit, assuming you haven’t indulged already. Regardless, Badger State Brewing Company offers some of the best locally brewed ales, porters, IPAs, and stouts in all of Green Bay.
Ready for a taste? Then stop at the Badger State Tap Room for a fresher than fresh pint. Even better, reserve your spot on an exclusive brewery tour, offered only on Saturdays, and take home a souvenir pint glass and enjoy some free samples.
Appreciate the Fine Arts.
Make time to experience the artistic side of Green Bay by visiting the ARTgarage – a multi-purpose art gallery/learning center housed in a 55,000 square foot former canning plant. Check the schedule and see what’s on exhibit during your visit – the displays, which primarily showcase local artists, are on rotation all the time.
Take A Tour.
All of this fun, but you still haven’t truly done any sightseeing. Fix that by scheduling a guided tour of Green Bay with Segway the Fox Tours. The company offers fun-filled tours of downtown Green Bay all while riding on a segway. It’s unique way to see the city to say the least – reserve your spot today.
