Madison, the capital city, is home of the University of Wisconsin where spring draws the rowing teams out on Lake Mendota. Set your sights on Milwaukee, home to Harley-Davidson and the now iconic Milwaukee Art Museum. Don' t miss Green Bay for a look at Lambeau Field and the Packers Hall of Fame, or head north to Superior and Big Manitou Falls, now at its peak with spring runoff. No matter where you go in Wisconsin you are a winner.

Milwaukee and Madison

Area Map, Hotels & Specials
Milwaukee, Wisconsin Milwaukee, Wisconsin

Whether it’s Madison or Milwaukee, and everything in between, the spring and summer seasons open up tremendous vacation opportunities in the Wisconsin. Madison, the capital, is a fun and vibrant college town, with it’s own rich history and allure. Milwaukee is a baseball crazy city, with a love of finely crafted brews and ales, but with plenty of desirable hospitality, to boot – especially in the spring and early summer. Check out Kenosha, home to the Dinosaur Discovery Museum, and Petrifying Springs Park. Pewaukee, north of Kenosha, is home to Western Lakes Golf Club – enjoy the spring air while playing 18 holes.

Milwaukee is the largest city in Wisconsin, and with that classification, comes an array of interesting and unique attractions and sights. Check out the Discovery World Museum, or spend the afternoon at Pelican Cove Family Water Park, when it heats up enough. For a uniquely Milwaukee experience head to Hart Park on June 2, for the Milwaukee Highland Games.

Sports fans traveling through the Milwaukee area have options this spring. The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Panthers baseball season is underway so catch a game before they conclude. Head over to Henry Aaron Field on April 20, for the first of a three-game series against Youngstown State – you’ll love the excitement of college baseball. Continue the baseball experience with a visit to Miller Park, home of the Milwaukee Brewers. May 11 the Brewers take on the Chicago Cubs in the first of a three-game series.

West of Milwaukee is Madison – the state capital. A diverse city, Madison is flanked by bodies of water on it’s west and east sides. To the west is Lake Mendota, and to the east is Lake Monona and Lake Waubesa. As the home of the University of Wisconsin, Madison features an eclectic mix of locals and students from abroad. Spend the afternoon at the Madison Children’s Museum, then head to the Allen Centennial Gardens and bask in the fine spring blooms.

April 27, music lovers exploring Madison won’t want to miss the Capital City Jazz Festival – a three-day event organized by the Madison Jazz Society, and held at McKee Farms Park, only minutes from downtown Madison.

Soccer fans looking for a bit of the Beautiful Game can check out the University of Wisconsin Badgers take on DePaul University on May 4 at the McClimon Complex.

Make the most of the advantageous weather conditions this spring with a trip to Pewaukee Lake, set alongside the city of Pewaukee. Tee off and play 18 holes at the Western Lakes Golf Club, or the Willow Run Golf Club.

Southern Wisconsin

Lighthouse in Kenosha, WI Lighthouse in Kenosha, WI

Southern Wisconsin blossoms into a vacationer's paradise during the spring. With cities like Chilton, Sparta, and Appleton as an anchor, and Dodgeville and Wisconsin Dells adding their piece, too, don’t miss out on a southern Wisconsin getaway this spring. Appleton is home to The Building for Kids Children’s Museum, and for the adults don’t miss out on the Appleton Brewing Company. Visit the Museum of Minerals and Crystals while in Dodgeville, home of Governor Dodge State Park. Springtime amusement is a certainty with a visit to the Children’s Museum of Eau Claire in, yep, you guessed it – Eau Claire.

North of Dodgeville, and affectionately known as “The Dells,” Wisconsin Dells is an attractive and quaint springtime destination for southern Wisconsin travelers. On a warm day, there’s hardly anything better than cooling off with some splashing fun – be sure to head on over to Noah’s Ark, the largest waterpark in America. Beginning May 9, Noah’s Ark is open from morning to night, and is a sterling example of southern Wisconsin hospitality and excitement – and of course, parking at Noah’s Ark is always free.

Wisconsin Dells is full of excitement and fun – be sure to treat the kids with a visit to Timber Falls Adventure Park where they can tucker themselves out with a full day of mini-golf, roller coasters, and other assorted amusement park rides. Continuing with the adventure, head over to Kalahari Indoor Theme Park and have a blast.

Head west from Wisconsin Dells into Sparta. Though you won’t find an army of 300 anywhere around this Sparta, it’s still a pleasant and memorable destination while exploring southern Wisconsin. Affectionately known as the “Bicycling Capital of America,” Sparta is a great spot to visit when looking for small town charms – don’t miss the Deke Slayton Memorial Space & Bicycle Museum, or check out Sparta Butterfest Celebration & Carnival at Memorial Park, June 7-10.

South of Green Bay, and just minutes from Lake Winnebago, Chilton is found. A small city, Chilton was first established in 1845 as a sawmill town, and today is home to Gravity Park, a motocross track. Indulge in a taste of local brews with a visit to the Rowland Calumet Brewery, or play a little catch and release at Killsnake River.

Eau Claire, one of the more northern set cities in southern Wisconsin, is easily accessed from I-94, and features the Putnam Park State Natural Area. Take advantage of pristine spring weather conditions with a visit to Carson Park, just minutes from downtown Eau Claire. Plan for a picnic, a hike around the park, fishing on Halfmoon Lake, or a visit to the Chippewa Valley Museum, set on the park grounds. Any visit into Eau Claire is hardly complete without a tour of the popular Paul Bunyan Logging Camp Museum.

Spring visitors in Green Bay plan for the Oshkosh Fitness Festival & Dueling Pianos on May 11 at the Leach Amphitheater. Eagle River is another of the fine, northern Wisconsin cities. Head into Eagle River and check out the Blackjack Springs Wilderness Area. South of Eagle River is Tomahawk, where you’ll enjoy a taste of local brew at the Logjam Micro Brewery.

A friendly city, Superior is one of the northern most cities in Wisconsin. Set just inland of Lake Superior, the city of Superior is home to Fairlawn Mansion & Museum. Be sure to visit Little Manitou Falls, which yields majestic views during the spring – it’s also just upstream from Big Manitou Falls, the highest waterfall in Wisconsin. While exploring the sights of Superior, head into the S. S. Meteor & Maritime Museum, which features the world's only whaleback freighter.

Try to break par with a round at Pattison Park Golf Course, a charming 9-hole executive course that allows golfers to play through twice, making it a traditional 18 holes. Other golfers head to Nemadji Golf Course, which features two regulation, 18-hole courses.

Visitors exploring northern Wisconsin often make the trek into Green Bay. Affectionately known as Titletown, USA, Green Bay is home to the Green Bay Packers of the NFL. Spend the afternoon in Green Bay enjoying one of the Lambeau Field Stadium Tours.

Hockey fans traveling through Green Bay this spring are in for a real treat. Head into the Resch Center on April 7 and watch as the Green Bay Gamblers take on the Waterloo Black Hawks in some exciting United States Hockey League action.

For a lighter touch, and chance to experience some Green Bay culture, check out the Green Bay Symphony Orchestra when they take the stage on April 14 at the Weidner Center. On April 23, continue with the adventures in music and check out the Kentucky Headhunters when they play at the Oneida Casino Lounge, just 20 minutes west of downtown Green Bay.

North of Green Bay is Eagle River.
